Burton Albion P-P Gillingham

Gillingham will have to wait until Monday now for a game after it was confirmed that Saturday’s tie at Burton Albion had been postponed.

The game had been expected to go ahead with the Burton Albion groundsman suggesting on Friday that the pitch was playable, but temperatures of minus ten overnight have left the ground frozen and there was no other choice than to call the game off.

Thankfully, the players hadn’t left Priestfield, but some fans had already set of for the Pirelli Stadium, leaving them disappointed for a second week in row.

Last weekend’s game against Hereford United at Priestfield was called off due to a frozen pitch and now The Gills will have to reschedule the Burton fixture.

Gillingham will now have to switch their attentions to Monday night’s televised game against Southend United at Priestfield – weather permitting!

The pitch is under the frost covers and have been for the past couple of weeks and should the air temperature rise over the next forth eight hours there should be a game.
